XTERRA "RUNS WILD" IN KNOXVILLE

The XTERRA North Boundary Blitz Scramble - 6K Trail Run

XTERRA will be knock, knock, knocking on Knoxville's door on Saturday, October 21st delivering the second annual XTERRA North Boundary Blitz Scramble® -- an exhilarating 6K off-road running race.  At 8:30 am, competitors of all ages and abilities will set their feet free and "Scramble" through scenic North Boundary Trail in Oak Ridge, TN.

The Knoxville Track Club is sponsoring this event and will generously donate 100% of the proceeds to the KTC Youth Athletics Program, supporting thousands of Knoxville Area's youth through outdoor track, indoor track, and cross-country running from Elementary through High School.  The North Boundary Blitz is part of the national XTERRA Scramble Series® - a host of challenging and fun off-road races that take runners off of the treadmill and into nature. 

It's called the XTERRA Scramble® for a reason - we've got the country jumping over logs, dodging roots and scramblin' in the woods like a kid on summer holiday!  Forget running in circles around a track, or killing your knees on the pavement.  We challenge people to get back outdoors, breathe some fresh air and remember just how good it feels to RUN WILD! 

XTERRA and the Knoxville Track club are thrilled to continue and expand their relationship and will use the momentum from the first two races to produce a 3-event series that will go into effect in 2007.  "Our goal is to get the Knoxville-area running community more involved in trail running.  The benefits of partnering with XTERRA, and the help we can provide our area youth, make this an exciting venture," says race director Larry Brede.

The KTC is pleased to add that local sponsors JFG Special Coffee and New Knoxville Brewing Company will support the Scramble and bestow prizes to the event winners.  JFG Plant Manager Richard Schmader and New Knoxville owner Don Anderson are both thrilled to be involved with the XTERRA Scramble® Series and elated to support such a worthy cause as the Youth Athletics Program.

Registration & Fees
Registration takes place from 7:30 until 8:15 a.m. at the Horizon Center Communications Building.
Pre-registration is $15.00 including a t-shirt (postmarked by Saturday, 14 October, 2006)
Late registration, including day of race, is $20.00 including a t-shirt

Awards
Cool medals and other sponsor swag will be given to the top three overall M/F age categories:
<19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80>
Special Divisions include: first Masters (40+), first Grandmasters (50+), first Veterans (60+) & top 3 Clydesdale/Athena Division (200 lbs male, 150 lbs female)

Directions
Take I-40 to exit 364, "Lenoir City/Oak Ridge". Proceed north on Highway 95 approximately 6 miles to the road split. Turn right on Highway 95 north, "Oak Ridge". There are two entrances to the Horizon Center, approximately 1/2-mile and 1-mile on the left. Take first left into Horizon Center to T-intersection.
