“Hurt So Good” at the XTERRA Pain Terrain

Blue Springs, MO – Runners with true grit will be dashing through the hills and rocky trails of Landahl Park in Blue Springs, Missouri on Saturday, August 18th for the XTERRA Pain Terrain Trail Run – the second installment of three for the XTERRA Midwest Trail Run Series.

Athletes choose between a ferocious 5k or 10k trail run -- both tracks featuring an itinerary that includes steep elevation gain, tricky single-track rocky descents and fierce humidity.  Even the fittest participants will be feeling the burn on this course that mountain bikers pinpoint as one of the toughest in the Midwest. 

It’s true that this course is not for the faint of heart; nevertheless XTERRA encourages people of all ages and skill levels to dust off those running shoes and take a step towards a healthy and active lifestyle.  The fittest will thrive and the rest will survive, but ALL participants will have a blast battling the conditions and finding the finish line.  If you believe in the mantra “No Pain, No Gain” then this run is for you!  Like the bulls running in Pamplona, Spain XTERRA athletes charge through challenges and live for that “hurt so good” euphoria.

Competitive racers will be intrigued to know that for the 10k, the top finishers earn points towards the series end title of XTERRA Midwest Trail Running Champion.  They also inch closer to receiving an invitation for running in the XTERRA National Championships, held this September in Lake Tahoe, NV.  Also, medals and prizes provided by The North Face will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division for male and female.
