The 2008 XTERRA Trail Running Series Takes Flight in Georgia - Saturday Feb. 2nd

The 2008 XTERRA Trail Run Championship Series kicks-off in Conyers, Georgia on Saturday, February 2nd with the XTERRA Runnin' the Rocks 10k Trail Run , the inaugural race of 50 events worldwide -- with five of them right here in Georgia!   

This first race is held at Conyers International Horse Park – a prominent complex nestled in the woods of suburban Atlanta and home to the 1996 Olympic Equestrian and Mountain Bike events.  XTERRA and Dirty Spokes Productions dare Georgia residents to "Ditch The City" and hit the well-groomed trails of gentle slopes and picturesque landscapes.  The race commences on the "steeplechase" field and then descends into the woods for a single and double track off-road experience of rolling hills, technical sections and creek crossings.

Because this race is part of the XTERRA Georgia Series, competitors in the 10k have the opportunity to accumulate points towards being crowned regional champion.  When the Series is complete, the top five point-scorers in each age group are then invited to compete against each other and top trail runners from other regions for the title of XTERRA National Champion at the close of September. 

New for 2008 – Aloha Xduro!

In response to runners requesting longer races, XTERRA has added nearly 20 endurance trail runs to the mix in eight different countries culminating with a World Championship race held on December 7, 2008 at Kualoa Ranch on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.  To qualify for the 21k Xduro World Championship, runners must race in one Xduro event and finish within 3 hours.  For Georgia residents, the March 1, 2008 XTERRA Thrills in the Hills Xduro in Winder, GA is the qualifying race.

When: The 10K race will begin at 8:30 AM.  Registration & Packet Pick-up opens at 6:30 AM

Awards: Awards will be presented to Overall Male/Female, and Top 3 in age groups beginning with 9 and under through 60 and over. Long sleeved t-shirts will be given to all participants who pre-register and as available for race day entrants.
