XTERRA Challenges Runners with Chanoko

XTERRA is preparing to invade Northern California March 29th with the adrenaline pumping, off-road XTERRA Chanoko Trail Run 16k at Granite Bay's Folsom Lake.

With 10 miles of unforgiving, off-road running, athletes will be forced to put their best foot (or rather running shoe) forward to prove they can compete with not only mud, hills, and rocks but also whatever else nature's imagination comes up with. Hopefully the athletes are water lovers because although the lake is not high enough to add a swimming section, the path offers a good chance of getting wet.

A perfect blend of scenic, single track trails and remote hiking paths, the XTERRA Chanoko Trail Run offers athletes the ideal Saturday morning run. However, not to be upstaged by Folsom Lake's beauty, punishing obstacles and twisting hills present themselves to remind runners they are in the middle of an extreme XTERRA event.

Part of the 2008 XTERRA Trail Run Series, the XTERRA Chanoko Trail Run gives athletes a preview for the upcoming XTERRA Trail Run National Championship in Bend, OR on September 27 and the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship in Hawaii on December 7th.  Featured at both races is the half-marathon distance Xduro which is new to the 2008 XTERRA lineup. Visit www.xterratrailrun.com for more details.

Next up for California: XTERRA Malibu Creek Trail Challenge Xduro 6k/22k (Malibu, CA) on May 10.
