XTERRA Getting Ready to Run Through "The Rivah"

RACE #1 IN THE 2008 XTERRA NEW ENGLAND TRAIL RUN SERIES

XTERRA is overrunning Massachusetts with the off-road, adrenaline rushing XTERRA Merrimack River Trail Run 16k on April 12th at The Wyndham Hotel in Andover.

With a long history of respect from the trail running community, the exhilarating, heart-racing 10-mile run returns for its 17th straight year. The course, full of mud-slipping, root-lined paths, camouflages four arduous, hilly miles with ideal sections of flat, record-breaking terrain on either side. Never knowing what early spring weather in New England may bring, runners will prepare themselves for a multitude of "worst-case-scenarios" in order to be ready for Mother Nature's best.

Over the years, this race, known as "The Rivah" has become a New England institution attracting athletes ranging from amateurs all the way up to Olympian Lynn Jennings. Runners as young as ten have been racing alongside veterans at the youthful age of 77 since 1992.

The first of three races in the 2008 XTERRA New England Series, runners will be gunning to start their series total with top points. The stakes are high as top finishers in the series earn free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 27th in Bend, OR and from there have the chance to compete in the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship December 7th in Hawaii. Visit www.xterratrailrun.com for more details.

Next up: XTERRA Muddy Moose Xduro (6k/22k) in Wolfeboro, NH on April 20.
