XTERRA Begins in New York with Black Bear Hollow

RACE #1 IN 2008 XTERRA NEW YORK TRAIL RUN SERIES

April 23, 2008 - XTERRA is invading Hurley, New York Saturday, May 24 with the XTERRA Black Bear Hollow 8k Trail Run. This is the first time the XTERRA Trail Run Series is coming to New York, so the adventure and excitement will be at an all time high for runners throughout the region.

Runners will trek over 5 miles of well-groomed, 3 meter wide trails. Although not overly technical, the trails will give athletes a run for their money with its steep uphill climbs and all-trail terrain. Held within a reserved forest space, the XTERRA Black Bear Hollow pushes runners through winding woodlands and switchbacks with gentle slopes leading down from the rolling peaks.

According to race director, John McGovern, participants are eagerly awaiting the event. Along with local area runners, longtime XTERRA athletes are excited to finally have a trail run event in New York. John and his team have been busy prepping the trails to make sure they are geared up come race day.

The first of three races in the XTERRA 2008 Trail Run Series, runners will be out in full force to earn top points toward their series total. The athletes with the most points at the end of the series will earn free entry to the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can go on to compete in the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 in beautiful Hawaii. For more details, visit www.xterratrailrun.com.
