Friedman and Snyder Battle Their Way to Top at Black Bear Hollow(Hurley, NY) – Jay Friedman, 32, of New Paltz, NY turned in the fastest time of the day at this past Saturday’s XTERRA Black Bear Hollow Trail Run while Suzanne Snyder, 26, of Wallingford, CT won the women’s race. Friedman finished the 5.7 mile race in 39:42 with Ronnie Severino, 38, of Kingston, NY right on his heels coming in at 40:30. Snyder dominated the women’s race with her time of 47:19 almost 9 minutes ahead of Lisa Gibson, 34, of Bloomingburg, NY. Runners from all over New York as well as three other states with ages spanning from 12-61 took to the trails to challenge themselves against XTERRA. Athletes pushed themselves over the steep switchbacks and wooded paths to fight their way to the finish. This was the first of three races in the XTERRA New York Trail Run Series giving athletes just two more opportunities to add points toward their series total. Runners with top points at the end of the series will earn free entry to the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, they will have the chance to compete in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch on December 7 in Hawaii. Complete race results are attached and more information can be found online at www.xterratrailrun.com. Media interested in photos from this event should contact emily@xterraplanet.com. Next up: The 2008 XTERRA New York Trail Run Series is returning to Hurley, New York for the XTERRA Twin Lakes 12K Trail Run on July 6. |
