XTERRA Strides into Snowbird Resort for Off-Road Trail Run

RACE #2 IN THE 2008 XTERRA UTAH TRAIL RUN SERIES

XTERRA is returning to Utah for more off-road adventure on June 28 at the XTERRA Snowbird Challenge Trail Run 8k at Snowbird Resort in Salt Lake City.

Runners will travel over 5 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon in the majestic Wasatch Mountains. With the canyon lying along the eastern border of Salt Lake Valley where the Rocky Mountains meets the Great Basin, the spectacular views may be enough for athletes to forget they are challenging 8 kilometers of grueling trails.

Snowbird Resort offers an extensive network of trails and an elevation level that extends from 7760 feet at the base to 11,000 feet at its looming peaks. The tree-covered, wildlife-filled course spans over the wilderness areas that line both sides of Little Cottonwood Canyon giving runners the ultimate, extreme XTERRA experience.

The XTERRA Snowbird Challenge is the second of four races in the 2008 XTERRA Utah Trail Run Series. Competition is strong since runners with top points at the end of the series will earn free entry to the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, athletes will have the opportunity to compete in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 at the beautiful Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii.  For more information about the 2008 XTERRA Trail Run Series, visit www.xterratrailrun.com or contact emily@xterraplanet.com.
