XTERRA Runners Get Ready For Renegade Trail Run

RACE #2 IN XTERRA CHICAGO TRAIL RUN SERIES

XTERRA returns to the Chicagoland area on Saturday, July 12 for the second installment of the Chicago Trail Run Series with the XTERRA Renegade Trail Run 10k.

After the first XTERRA Trail Series event, Chicago area runners are eager to get back on the trails to test their skills against Mother Nature. The 10k course will lead runners through miles of twists and turns, climbing over branches and fallen trees and pushing their endurance over the rolling hills inside Deer Grove West Forest Preserve.

With the beautiful environment surrounding them, runners will hopefully forget about the 2 mile section of intense switchback dirt trails and mud-caked paths standing between them and the finish line.

The XTERRA Chicago Trail Series is proud to call itself a "green trail series" with efforts in all three events to promote environmental awareness and efficiency.

The XTERRA Renegade Trail Run is the second race in the XTERRA Chicago Trail Run Series giving runners only two more chances to earn points toward their series total. Top finishers in the series will be awarded free entry to the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners will have the chance to compete in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii. When:  Saturday, July 12, 2008 - 8:00am
Fee: $30.00
Awards: Given to the top three runners in each age group, by gender. Overall winners will receive a special prize gift and all participants will receive an organic cotton t-shirt and great race packet.
