(Hurley, NY) – The XTERRA New York Series completed another great event this morning with the XTERRA Twin Lakes Trail Run that took place at Twin Lakes Resort in the Hudson Valley.

Twin Lakes Trail Run WinnersDoug Mitaronda, 27, from Albany, NY was the first to cross the finish line with his time of 34:48. Close behind him was Kingston, NY resident Tom DeHaan, 45.

In the women’s race, Barbara Sessa, 44, of Slate Hill, NY took the top honors with a finishing time of 36:50 with Jean Norton, 46, of Wurtsboro, NY less than a minute behind her.

Runners from six states came out to battle the humid temperatures that blanketed New York’s beautiful Catskill Region. Many residents of New Paltz came out to test the waters of the XTERRA New York Trail Run Series as the next race is headed to their hometown at Mohonk Preserve.

According to race director John McGovern, “The race went well. The weather was hot and the course was tough, but people had a great time.”

This was the second of three races in the XTERRA New York Trail Run Series giving athletes just one more opportunity to add points toward their series total. Top finishers in the series will earn free entry to the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, they will have the chance to compete in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch on December 7 in Hawaii.
