XTERRA Athletes Get Ready to Run at River Valley Ranch

2008 XTERRA CHESAPEAKE TRAIL RUN SERIES FINALE

XTERRA is gearing up for its return to Maryland on August 23 with the XTERRA River Valley Ranch Trail Run in Manchester.

The main event  features 10 kilometers of off-road terrain ranging from groomed trails and open fields to rock-covered landscapes nestled in the lush valley. Runners will climb their way up the rolling hills overlooking the scenic Western Town. Wooded trails will lead up River Valley Ranch's infamous "Dead Man's Hill" where athletes will face this short but intense challenge. From there, the course descends to the Gunpowder River where racers will splash their way across to the much anticipated flat finishing stretch.

For those runners looking for a smaller adventure, a 5-kilometer mix of on and off-road paths and a 1-Mile Kids Fun Run will also be included in the day's activities.

This event is the fourth and final race in the 2008 XTERRA Chesapeake Trail Run Series and will be the determining factor of who gets to race for free at the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners have the opportunity to race in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 on Oahu, Hawaii. For more information, visit www.xterratrailrun.com.
