Harris, Norton, Rozario Make Their Mark at XTERRA Mohonk Preserve



Mohonk Preserve Xduro Runner(New Paltz, NY) – Justin Harris, 24, Jean Norton, 46, and Nicole Rozario, 18,took their places at the top of the podium for their respective divisions in Saturday’s XTERRA Mohonk Preserve Xduro Trail Run.

Within the beautiful Catskills, runners from 5 states as far away as California took their places on the start line for the 13.5-mile, season-ending course.

After placing third at the XTERRA Twin Lakes Trail Run on July 6th, Harris, from Wappingers Falls, NY, had the fastest time of the day in 1:40:48, finishing almost 10 minutes ahead of runner-up Murray Resinski, 38, of Morris Plains, NJ.

In a much closer race, Norton and Rozario crossed the finish line at the exact same moment in 2:13:10. A Wurtsboro, NY resident, Norton came back in full force after finishing 2nd in the XTERRA Twin Lakes Trail Run while newcomer Rosario, of Middletown, NY, got her first taste of the XTERRA New York Trail Run Series. Close behind was XTERRA Twin Lakes winner Barbara Sessa, 44, of Slate Hill, NY at 2:15:49.

Since this was the third and final event in the 2008 New York Trail Run Series, Regional Champions will be crowned and invited to race for free at the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. Here runners from across the country will come together to challenge themselves against trail running’s best competitors. After Nationals, runners will have the opportunity to compete in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 over a spectacular course on Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii.
