XTERRA Announces NorCal as New Stop in Trail Run SeriesXTERRA is proud to announce Northern California as one if its destinations for the 2009 XTERRA Trail Run Series. Following huge success with the XTERRA SoCal Series, race director Brennan Lindner of Generic Events has teamed up with Bill Driskill and Mark Shaw of NorCal’s own TBF Racing to create this exciting new series. Kicking off the 2009 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series is the XTERRA Chanoko Xduro. This half-marathon distance trail run takes place at Folsom Lake in Granite Bay, CA and combines scenic single track trails with winding climbs to the lake’s spectacular vistas. Participating in last year’s season as a stand-alone event, the XTERRA Chanoko Xduro is joining forces with three more races to offer area runners a full series. Next up is the inaugural XTERRA Redwood Peak Trail Run taking place in the Oakland Hills. Two distances, the main 15km event and a 5km fun run, twist their way through the giant 100-year old redwood trees and beautiful views of the East Bay. The XTERRA Marin Headlands Trail Run marks the finale of the 2009 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series. Both the half-marathon distance Xduro and shorter 6km event race through a mixture of fire roads, single track trails and stairs leading the way to breathtaking overlooks of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Northern California hosts the very first event of XTERRA’s nationwide 2010 season with the XTERRA Wildcat Gorge Trail Run. Taking place at Berkeley’s Tilden Regional Park, this race is for athletes who like a challenge. Runners will travel 5 or 15 kilometers along Wildcat Creek and, after some major climbing, will be rewarded at the top with views across the East Bay and the San Francisco skyline. Top runners in the longest distance of each event will receive points toward their series totals. Those ending the 2009 season with the highest scores will be crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. Then on December 6, runners can go head to head against the world’s best trail runners at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu.
