XTERRA Trail Run Series Gets Ready to Run the Rocks

RACE #4 IN THE 2009 XTERRA GEORGIA TRAIL RUN SERIES

Peach state runners are gearing up for the 2nd annual XTERRA Runnin’ the Rocks Trail Run on March 7 at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers.

Even in chilly temperatures, last year’s inaugural event attracted runners from 7 states eager to adopt the XTERRA Georgia Series’ motto of “Ditch the City.” The 10-kilometer trail run will start in the Steeplechase Field, and in a matter of strides, will have runners climbing over the park’s 1000 feet of elevation change. Race director Tim Schroer calls the course “a great single and double track off-road running experience.”

The XTERRA Runnin’ the Rocks Trail Run is the fourth race in the 2009 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series. Runners who have accumulated the most points at the end of the series will earn the title of 2009 XTERRA Regional Champion and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship in Bend, Oregon on September 13. From there, athletes have the chance to go head to head with the world’s top trail runners at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on the Hawaiian island of Oahu on December 6.
