XTERRA Brings New Trail Run to Black Mountain

RACE #6 IN THE 2009 XTERRA SOCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

Expanding on the success of the XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series, race director Brennan Lindner has organized a new addition for the 2009 season. The XTERRA Black Mountain Trail Run will take place in Northern San Diego just east of Del Mar on Sunday, March 22.

The 5 and 15-kilometer courses wind around the Black Mountain Regional Park and are all about speed having only a few climbs. In fact, with only 300 feet of total elevation gain, this is set to be the fastest course in the series. Lindner describes the course as having “twists, turns, and a few creek crossings. It’s one of the best races around.”

Along with a great race, participants will be rewarded with a hot breakfast, race t-shirt, finisher medal and the chance to win some great swag. Early registration is recommended as the event field is limited.

After the XTERRA Black Mountain Trail Run, SoCal runners will have just one more chance to earn points toward their series totals. Those with the highest scores at the end of the season will earn the title of XTERRA Regional Champion and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. Then it’s on to the December 6th XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on the spectacular Hawaiian island of Oahu where athletes can go head to head against the world’s best trail runners.

Where: Black Mountain Regional Park in northern San Diego
