XTERRA Runners Get Ready for First Race in Philly Series



RACE #1 IN THE 2009 XTERRA PHILLY TRAIL RUN SERIES

Following an extremely successful 2008 season, the XTERRA Philly Trail Run Series explodes onto the scene for 2009 with the XTERRA Warwick Park Revenge Trail Run. On May 6, XTERRA teams up with local Mid-Atlantic Events to bring area runners a fun and adventurous 5-kilometer event.

Taking place at Pottstown’s Warwick Park, the course will present runners with a challenging mix of dirt trails, gravel roads, twisting roots, loose rocks, and steep ascents. According to race director Don Morrison, “We are very excited to be hosting the 2009 XTERRA Philly Trail Run Series. We had a very competitive series last year in all age groups, and this year is shaping up to be even better.”

This is the first of five races in the 2009 XTERRA Philly Trail Run Series. The season kicks off with a series of shorter fun runs and gradually builds up to the half-marathon distance Xduro finale on July 19 in Macungie, PA. Top runners at each event will earn points toward their series totals. During last year’s series, Philadelphia crowned twenty of its local residents as Regional Champions, and two even went on to claim titles at the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship in Bend, Oregon. Following this year’s XTERRA Nationals event on September 13, runners will have the chance to race at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 6 on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu.
