XTERRA Marin Headlands to Decide Series ChampionsThe 2009 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series comes to a close on June 13 in San Francisco’s Marin Headlands after an exciting, action-packed season. The XTERRA Marin Headlands Trail Runs will race over two challenging distances, an up-and-down 21-kilometer event that will remind athletes more of a roller coaster than an off-road half marathon and a shorter 7-kilometer fun run. According to race director Brennan Lindner, “From a mixture of steep single track and fire roads to the amazing Tennessee Valley and grueling stair climbs, this course has it all. Following several of the trails inside the Golden Gate National Recreational Area, runners will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the spectacular city of San Francisco. You can’t beat this course.” Throughout the series, runners have navigated their way over the best trails Northern California has to offer, but by far the most popular aspect of the XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series has been the hot breakfast and coffee awaiting competitors across the finish line. As the season finale, the XTERRA Marin Headlands Trail Run is the last chance for area runners to earn their coveted series points. Those with the highest totals after this race will be crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can line up against trail running’s best at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 6 in Hawaii. Coming up in the XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series… |
