Georgia Runners Battle for XTERRA Trail Run Titles

2009 XTERRA GEORGIA TRAIL RUN SEASON FINALE

After an exciting eight-race season, it all comes down to one last event for the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series. Throughout the season, area athletes have been collecting points with their sights set on winning the title of XTERRA Regional Champion. Now, just the XTERRA Rock Hawk Trail Run on August 23rd stands between them and this coveted honor.

There will be two distances circling the grounds of the Rock Hawk Effigy & Trails in Eatonton, GA, the point-earning 21-kilometer event and a 5-kilometer fun run. The series slogan says it all, “Ditch the City” for adventure with this scenic, single and double track running experience around Lake Oconee.

Not only will finishing the series with the highest totals earn Georgia runners the titles of Regional Champions, they will also be rewarded with free entry into the 2009 XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. Then on December 6th, athletes can say aloha to the Hawaiian island of Oahu for the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship where they can go head to head against some of the world’s best runners.

Also, just a reminder that the XTERRA Pig 10km Trail Run takes place this Sunday in Macon, Georgia.

XTERRA Rock Hawk Trail Run Race Information

When: Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 – 8:30am
Where: Rock Hawk Effigy & Trails (123 Wallace Dam Road, Eatonton, GA 31024)
Awards: Medals and prizes to overall top 3 male and female finishers. Medals to top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. Dri-Fit shirts will also be guaranteed for all early registrants.
Entry Fee: 5k: $25 and 21k: $40 through August 10 / Late entry – add $5 / Race Day – add another $5
