New Place to Race: XTERRA Heads to Lake Placid

In the heart of the Adirondacks, athletes can find the gorgeous Olympic town of Lake Placid, New York that will play host to a weekend full of XTERRA off-road adventure kicking off on August 22nd. This will be XTERRA’s inaugural visit to Lake Placid, so along with a triathlon event on Sunday, XTERRA will also be running two fun and exciting trail races the day before.

Both the 5 and 10-kilometer trail runs will start and finish at the XTERRA Village in the Olympic Ice Skating Oval. The race will follow a two wave format with the 10km run starting at 9:00am and the 5km just 5 minutes later. No matter what distance they choose, runners will be rewarded with a great breakfast, raffles, and the all important awards ceremony.

The XTERRA Lake Placid Trail Run is part of the 50+ race 2009 XTERRA Trail Run Series. Following this event, runners are invited to race in the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship (5/10/21km) on September 13th in Bend, Oregon. No qualification is necessary and all are welcome.

Then on December 6th, XTERRA is taking its Trail Run Series home to the Hawaiian island of Oahu for the 2nd annual XTERRA Trail Running World Championship. Here at the majestic Kualoa Ranch, athletes can run around the pristine landscape that has played home to the sets of major productions like Jurassic Park, Godzilla and the hit television show LOST.
