XTERRA Announces New Alabama Trail Run Series

XTERRA is no stranger to the state of Alabama after years of bringing its Southeast Championship to the trails of Oak Mountain State Park, and now in 2010 it is thrilled to announce the unveiling of the long-awaited XTERRA Alabama Trail Run Series.

Kicking off this new, exciting series is the debut of the XTERRA Cheaha Trail Run on September 13th. This 10-kilometer event is a great single and double track off-road running experience. The terrain includes a little bit of everything from rolling hills and steep climbs to twisting rocks and tough technical sections.

Race director Tim Schroer has already proven his skills with the booming success of his XTERRA Georgia Series and is now bringing the adventure of the XTERRA Trail Run Series to Alabama. This is the first of three races in the 2010 XTERRA Alabama Trail Run Series and will be the premier opportunity for area runners to earn points toward their series totals. Those accumulating the most points at the end of the season will earn the coveted title of XTERRA Regional Champion and win free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship in 2010.

In addition to the new series, Alabama runners have been invited to run in the 2009 XTERRA Trail Running World Championship at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch on the Hawaiian island of Oahu this December 6th. While the race will attract elite runners from around the world, no qualification is necessary and all are welcome to compete.
