XTERRA Coming to Colorado for New Trail Run Series

RACE #1 IN THE 2010 COLORADO SEASON

After numerous emails and phone calls asking when the XTERRA Trail Run Series would make its way to Colorado, XTERRA is proud to present the XTERRA Marathon of Trail Races. This first of three races in the brand new 2010 XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series is set for October 3rd in Colorado Spring’s Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

This is the very first time XTERRA will be offering a marathon-distance trail run, and with half-marathon and 5-kilometer events right alongside, this is an event runners of all levels can enjoy. Cheyenne Mountain State Park is Colorado’s newest park and holds the landscape that inspired the song “America the Beautiful” so this is definitely something adventurous athletes will not want to miss.

As the inaugural event in the 2010 XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series, this will be the first opportunity for runners to earn points toward their series totals. Athletes with the highest scores at the end of the season will earn the coveted title of XTERRA Regional Champion and be awarded free entry to the 2010 XTERRA Trail Running National Championship. The second and third races in the series are still in the works, so runners should stay tuned as details unfold.

In the meantime, Colorado runners are invited to race at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship scheduled for December 6, 2009 on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu. Setting the stage is Kualoa Ranch, a spectacular 4,000-acre ranch where major productions like Jurassic Park, Godzilla and LOST have been filmed.

XTERRA Marathon of Trail Races Event Information

When: October 3, 2009 – 8:00am
Events: 5km / Half-Marathon / Marathon distance trail runs
Where: Cheyenne Mountain State Park – Colorado Springs, CO
Entry Fees: $25 for 5km / $45 for half-marathon / $65 for marathon – add $10 if registering on race day
