XTERRA Runners Head to Huntsville for Next Event

RACE #2 IN THE 2010 XTERRA ALABAMA TRAIL RUN SERIES

For race number two in the inaugural XTERRA Alabama Trail Run Series, runners will make their way to Huntsville, Alabama’s Monte Sano State Park on October 25th. Spanish for “Mountain of Health”, Monte Sano sits higher than 1,600 feet above sea level and is surrounded by over 14 miles of twisting trails inside this beautiful and wild 2,400 acre park.

The course itself is a great off-road running experience for athletes at all levels. The 15-kilometer course will wind its way around the rolling hills, grabbing roots, and technical single track offering spectacular views of the Tennessee Valley.

The XTERRA Monte Sano Trail Run will be the second opportunity for area runners to earn points toward their 2010 XTERRA Alabama Series totals. Those who finish the season with top scores will earn the coveted title of XTERRA Trail Running Regional Champion and receive free entry to the 2010 edition of the XTERRA Trail Run Nationals next fall.

But first, Alabama runners are invited to race at this year’s XTERRA Trail Running World Championship coming up on December 6th on Hawaii’s beautiful island of Oahu. No qualification is necessary, so all runners can race inside the stunning Kualoa Ranch where major productions like Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and LOST have been filmed. When: Sunday, October 25, 2009 – 8:30am
Where: Monte Sano State Park (5105 Nolen Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35801)
Entry Fees: $30 until Oct. 10 / $40 late / $45 race day
T-Shirt: Dri-Fit T-shirts ($25 value) handed out at the race. Sorry, not guaranteed for late or race day registration.
Prizes: Medals and prizes given to the overall top 3 male and female finishers. Medals will also be given out to top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. Runners must be present to receive awards.
