Moll, Chapman Finish First at XTERRA Fall Fitness

(Buford, GA) – Just one week after the start of the 2010 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series, runners eagerly returned to toe the line at the XTERRA Fall Fitness 5-kilometer Trail Run today in Buford’s Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center. Almost two hundred athletes ranging in age from 11 to 75 sprinted off the start line, and it was Allison Moll and Jason Chapman who were the first to reach the finish.

After claiming third place in his division for the 2009 season, 32-year old Chapman from Lilburn proved he is back and ready to take on this year’s series by edging out Mableton’s Kevin Vavra, 23, by just 10 seconds with his winning time of 19:54. Taking home the third place title was 22-year old Atlanta resident Clifton Robinson in 20:58.

Covington, Georgia’s Allison Moll, 33, crushed the women’s race by almost four minutes crossing the line in 22:21. Claiming the runner-up spot was 2009 XTERRA Regional Champion and 2nd place division champ at last month’s XTERRA Trail Run Nationals Susan Breeding, 56 from Marietta, in 26:10. XTERRA Georgia series standout Janelle Van Houw, 29 from Atlanta, rounded out the podium in 26:38.

After back to back races, director Tim Schroer is giving his runners a rest until November 8th when the 2010 XTERRA Georgia Series will return with the XTERRA Battle at Big Creek in Roswell. Athletes of all levels are encouraged to come out and participate since they can choose between the main 15km event or the shorter 7km fun run.

Today’s race was the second of six events making up the 2010 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series. Points will be awarded to top runners and added to their series totals. Those finishing the season with the most points will be crowned 2010 XTERRA Regional Champions and awarded free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship next fall.
