Mission Trail Run: XTERRA Heads to San Diego

RACE #5 IN 2010 XTERRA SoCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

After last year’s race sold out with more than 600 runners strong, the XTERRA Mission Gorge Trail Run is back and bigger than ever returning to San Diego’s Mission Trails Regional Park on Sunday, February 7th.

Big time athletes like Heather Fuhr and Paula Newby-Fraser set the bar high with their record-breaking performances in 2009, and it’s anyone’s guess as to which athletes will make their mark on the endurance race this year. This grueling 15-kilometer event features what race directors fondly refer to as the “thousand steps” along with a more forgiving 5-kilometer fun run with great trails around the 5,800 acre park’s old dam.

XTERRA’s SoCal athletes are always some of the most competitive and determined racers in its Trail Run Series, so runners will not want to miss out on their fifth of seven opportunities to add season points to their 2010 totals. Those ending the season with the highest scores will earn the title of XTERRA Regional Champion and be awarded free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship this fall.

XTERRA Mission Gorge 15km/5km Trail Run Race Information

When: Sunday, February 7, 2010: 15km – 8:00am / 5km – 8:30am.
Where: Mission Trails Regional Park – San Diego, CA
Entry Fee: 15km - $60, 5k - $40 (until February 4) / 15km - $65, 5km - $45 (race day if available)
Swag: All participants get a race t-shirt, finisher medal and a hot, post-race breakfast.
Aid / Water Stations: At miles 1.2, 3.5, 6.0, 9.4 and finish.
