XTERRA Brings New Endurance Event to Georgia

RACE #5 IN THE 2010 XTERRA GEORGIA TRAIL RUN SERIES

More than 500 runners flocked to Fort Yargo State Park for last year’s XTERRA Thrill in the Hills Trail Run, and on February 27, XTERRA is returning to bring a brand new challenge. Along with the increasingly popular half-marathon distance, director Tim Schroer and the rest of the Dirty Spokes team have decided to kick the event up a notch by adding a full blown marathon into the mix to celebrate the race’s fourth anniversary.

This will only be the second marathon-distance race in the history of XTERRA Trail Running, and the excitement of race organizers and runners alike has been overwhelming. Since both of the day’s races exceed the half-marathon distance mark to be named an Xduro event, points will be awarded to the top 15 racers in each age group for each course.

Athletes with the most points at the end of the 2010 season will be crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and awarded free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18th in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can say aloha to the Hawaiian island of Oahu for this year’s XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 5th. XTERRA Thrill in the Hills 21/42km Trail Run Race Information

When: Saturday, February 27, 2010 – 8:30am
Where: Fort Yargo State Park (210 S. Broad Street, Winder, GA 30680 – Entrance A)
Entry Fee: $35/$45 (21km/42km) until Feb. 19 * $40/$50 Late * $45/$55 on Race Day
Awards: All finishers will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal. In addition, medals and prizes will be given to overall top 3 male and female finishers and to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. Dri-Fit shirts will also be guaranteed for all early registrants.
