XTERRA Runners Get Ready For Bethpage

RACE #2 IN THE 2010 XTERRA LONG ISLAND TRAIL RUN SERIES

Despite the chilly conditions at last weekend’s XTERRA Stillwell Trail Run in Syosset, New York, Long Island runners are officially hooked on the new 2010 XTERRA Trail Run Series storming their area. Luckily they will not have to wait long for the next one as race number two sets its sights on the XTERRA Bethpage Trail Run scheduled for April 10th.

The winding, single track, sandy trails of Bethpage State Park’s almost 1,500 acres provide the backdrop for this 5-kilometer off-road adventure. Along with a great running course, the park also boasts tennis courts, picnic and recreational areas, a polo field, and is best known for its five golf courses which have hosted two U.S. Open Golf Championships over the last decade.

Along with age group medals, runners will also have their eyes on the cash prize purse given to the top three overall men and women and of course the XTERRA Long Island Series points given to the top fifteen in each division. Athletes with the highest scores at the end of the season will be crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18th in Bend, Oregon.

Long Islanders should also mark December 5th on their calendars as the date for the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu. No qualification is necessary, so all are welcome to join XTERRA for their tropical getaway. Where: Bethpage State Park in Bethpage, NY
Entry Fee: $25 / $15 without an event t-shirt
Registration: Online registration available at www.xterratrailrun.com.
Prizes: 1st – 3rd place overall male and female will receive an award and cash prize. Top three in each age group will receive medals.
