XTERRA Trail Run Series Returns to Redwood Park

RACE #2 IN THE 2010 XTERRA NORCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

Hundreds of runners lined up at the start of last year’s inaugural XTERRA Redwood Peak Trail Run, and on April 18th, XTERRA is returning to the Oakland Hills for another great off-road adventure at NorCal’s Redwood Regional Park.

Thrill seekers will be given the choice between the grueling, hill-climbing 17km or the fairly flat 5km fun run. No matter which line they start behind, the race will have something for everyone. The longer, main distance features calf-burning hills to the East Bridge Trail, quick descents into Redwood Canyon and breathtaking views amongst the famous giant redwoods. The short race will offer runners a gentler course with nice ascents and the relief of dropping into the beautiful Redwood Bowl.

In addition to a great race, athletes can expect to receive an event t-shirt, cool finisher medal, entry into a raffle of fantastic prizes, and a hot post-race breakfast complete with coffee.

The XTERRA Redwood Peak Trail Run serves as the second of three races in the 2010 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series. Top finishers in the 17km will be awarded series points which are accumulated until the end of the season. Following the third and final event, Regional Champions will be crowned and winners will receive free entry into this year’s XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18 in the outdoor sports mecca of Bend, Oregon.

Just a reminder that the XTERRA Chanoko Trail Run is coming up on March 27. This half-marathon distance Xduro event takes place at Folsom Lake in Granite Bay, CA and is the start of the 2010 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series.
