XTERRA Makes Its Way to Malibu for Next Race

RACE #6 IN THE 2010 XTERRA SOCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

As the event that started them all, the XTERRA Malibu Creek Trail Run has been called the Grandma of all XTERRA SoCal Trail Runs. However, this is not your blanket-knitting, cheek-pinching grandma, so runners should by no means underestimate this grueling, heart-pumping 22-kilometer race.

Taking place at the Malibu Creek State Park on May 8th, the XTERRA Malibu Creek Trail Run is “14 miles of pure fun” according to race director Brennan Lindner. “Athletes will get the chance to run past shooting locations for MASH, Planet of the Apes and several other movie/television productions.” The ‘highlight’, as he likes to call it, is the Bulldog ascent with over three miles and 1800 feet of climbing. And although this section is punishing by any runner’s standards, competitors are welcomed at the top by amazing, panoramic views of the Pacific to make it worthwhile.

Runners looking for a smaller challenge will love the shorter, more forgiving 6km race, and all athletes can look forward to a hot post-race breakfast upon crossing the finish line.

As the sixth of seven races in the 2010 XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series, area athletes will be eager to earn some of the last coveted season points in hopes of being crowned an XTERRA SoCal Regional Champion and winning free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18 in Bend, Oregon. When: Saturday, May 8, 2010: 22km – 7:30am / 6km – 8:00am
Where: Malibu Creek State Park – Malibu/Calabasas, CA
Awards: All participants will receive finisher medal, entry into the raffle of swag, t-shirt and a hot breakfast.
Entry Fee: 22km - $65 / 5km - $40: Add $5 on race day if available
