XTERRA Long Islanders Set to Race at Stillwell

RACE #3 IN THE 2010 XTERRA LONG ISLAND TRAIL RUN SERIES

So far it’s been an XTERRA Long Island Trail Run Series sweep for Rye Brook’s Kristin Thor Budden and Sea Cliff’s Chris Bauer, but on Sunday, June 6th, New Yorkers have their next chance to dethrone these undefeated athletes at the XTERRA Stillwell Trail Run.

Held on the 18th Annual National Trails Weekend, this eight-kilometer off-road race takes place in the Stillwell Woods Park, a 270-acre preserve in Nassau County’s Syosset, NY. The XTERRA Long Island Series made its mark at this venue earlier this year offering New Yorkers an urban escape and it’s back again by popular demand as the third of four races in the 2010 season.

The top fifteen runners in each age group will earn points toward their series totals, and runners with the highest scores after the fourth and final event will be crowned XTERRA Long Island Trail Run Regional Champions and earn free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18th in Bend, Oregon.

Then on December 5th, runners can escape the East Coast winter by racing at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on the beautiful, exotic, Hawaiian island of Oahu. No qualification is necessary for this event, so it’s the perfect getaway and opportunity to race at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch, which has been the filming site for major productions like Jurassic Park, Godzilla and LOST.

Where: Stillwell Woods Park in Syosset, NY
Entry Fee: $25 / $15 without an event t-shirt
Registration: Online registration available at www.xterratrailrun.com.
Prizes: 1st – 3rd place overall male and female will receive an award and cash prize. Top three in each age group will receive medals. All athletes will receive a commemorative technical running shirt.
