XTERRA NorCal Series Finale Set For Marin Headlands

RACE #3 IN THE 2010 XTERRA NORCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

Hundreds of runners have participated in the 2010 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series in hopes of claiming their titles of Regional Champions, and their fates all come down to the XTERRA Marin Headlands Trail Run scheduled for June 12th in Marin’s Golden Gate National Park.

The main, 21-kilometer series finale has it all from “paved” portions of the Coast Trail and descents into the Tennessee Valley to awesome single track along the coast with steps, rocks, and breathtaking views along the cliffs. The course may be beautiful, but runners shouldn’t be fooled into thinking this is a day in the park. The half marathon runners are highly encouraged to bring their own hydration and fuel with them on this rollercoaster terrain course.

Runners looking for a smaller off-road excursion are encouraged to sign up for the 7km trail run with its gradual climb and long downhill to the finish. All runners will be rewarded for their hard work with a delicious post-race breakfast across the finish line.

Fourteen dedicated area athletes have participated in both of this season’s XTERRA NorCal Trail Runs, and runners like Campbell’s Alana Hendrickson and Walnut Creek’s Sarah Beck have perfect scores going into this event. Those finishing the series with the highest scores will be crowned XTERRA NorCal Regional Champions and earn free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18 in Bend, Oregon.

When: Saturday, June 12, 2010 – 8:00am for 21km and 8:30 for 7km
Where: Marin Headlands inside the Golden Gate National Recreational Area - San Francisco, CA
Registration: Online at active.com. Event field is limited, so early entry is recommended.
Entry Fees: 7km - $40 / 21km - $65 (before June 10 – add $5 after)
