XTERRA Ohio Series will Conclude 2010 Season at Oak Hill

Regional champions will be crowned Aug. 21

The XTERRA Ohio Trail Run Series will hold its final race of the season on Aug. 21, when the XTERRA Oak Hill Trail Run will take place at Peninsula, Ohio.

Around 125 runners are expected to compete on the 8-kilometer course at Cuyahoga Valley Education Center, which is being described as "fast" by race director Vince Rucci. "It's a shorter course than what we normally do, and it's not very technical," he said. "So that means we'll see some fast times."

Because of the relative ease of the course, beginner and novice trail runners are being encouraged to enter the Oak Hill Trail Run. "This is a great beginner course, so we're hoping for any and all levels," Rucci said.

The XTERRA Oak Hill Trail Run is the fifth, and final, race in the 2010 Ohio Series, so it will serve as the last chance for runners to earn points toward the regional age-group standings. Each age-group champion from the Ohio Series will receive a free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship at Bend, Ore., on Sept. 18.

"The runners are very conscious of the standings and know what they have to do at this last race," Rucci said. "So that makes it even more exciting."
