Bryant, Cooper prevail at XTERRA Fisher Farm Trail Run

Inaugural XTERRA North Carolina Series complete for 2010

Jason Bryant of Elkin and Marissa Cooper of Taylorsville proved their worth as the top trail runners in North Carolina with convincing victories today at the XTERRA Fisher Farm Trail Run at Davidson, N.C.

Bryant, 38, was the first overall finisher, completing the 10-mile trail course at Fisher Farm Park in 1 hour, 9 minutes, 5 seconds. Martin Harrison of Davidson placed second overall with a time of 1:12:04.

Cooper, 33, was the first female finisher with a time of 1:18:13. Marybeth Errington of Pleasant Garden was second with a time of 1:22:53.

The race also served as the finale of the 2010 XTERRA North Carolina Trail Run Series. The North Carolina Series was in its first year with the XTERRA organization, and it featured four trail runs.

Bryant finished the series as the top overall runner. He placed first at two of the races, and second in another.

Cooper was the top female runner in the series. She placed first at two of the races, and third in another.

Each age-group champion from the North Carolina Series received a free entry to the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship at Bend, Ore., on Sept. 18.
