Mwinerirwa Mathiu, Jemutai win Inaugural Philippines XTERRA Pang Rave Run
The event featured both a 21-kilometer course and a 10-kilometer course at Tagaytay Midlands. "We're taking advantage of some of the beauty of the Philippines, our hillsides, the countryside," said Wilfred Uytengsu Jr., who helped organize the race. "When you're trail running you have to pay attention to the terrain so your eyes are focused on your next step. Today, we have a lot of rocks, a lot of single track, some downhill, so it forces you to be alert mentally as well as physically. I hope the people enjoyed it." Freadrick Mwinerirwa Mathiu was the overall winner of the 21K, completing the course in 1 hour, 36 minutes, 3 seconds. He finished four minutes ahead of the rest of the field. Benjamin Arusei Kipkazi was second in 1:40:03. Susan Jemutai was the first female finisher with a time of 2:03:30. The 10K winners Philip Kipkemei Ronoh (male) and Luisa Yambao Raterta (female).
