Colorado Series Ready to ResumeIf you're a runner and you like being first, then the 2011 XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series is for you.
On July 17, the first XTERRA Beaver Creek Trail Run will take place at the Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colo. The area has hosted XTERRA triathlons in recent years, but this will be the first year for a trail run. The event will feature both a 21-kilometer course and a 10-kilometer course, so runners of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. The courses will feature several unique challenges - including an actual crossing of Beaver Creek. And in keeping with Colorado tradition, there will be more than 2,400 feet of elevation climbs. After the Beaver Creek Trail Run, runners will get a month to rest and prepare for the Colorado Series finale. On Aug. 27 and 28, the XTERRA Snow Mountain Ranch Trail Runs will take place at the Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colo. And, yes, it will feature two days of racing, so runners can enjoy a full weekend at the beautiful ranch. On Aug. 27, a 10-kilometer race and 1-mile kids race are scheduled. On Aug. 28, a 20-kilometer race will take place. Runners can enter either or both of the 10K and 20K races. Both courses will offer unique experiences, as it will be the first XTERRA Trail Runs ever staged at Snow Mountain Ranch. What's more, the Snow Mountain Trail Runs will serve as the season finale for the 2011 XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series, so it will be the last chance for runners to earn points toward the overall standings. The age-group champions from the final standings will receive free entry to the 2011 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship, which is scheduled for Sept. 25 at Ogden, Utah. Colorado is one of 12 regions across the country that is hosting an XTERRA Trail Run Series in 2011. The others are Alabama, Arizona, Southern California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Philadelphia, Pocono, South Carolina and Texas. Colorado has hosted XTERRA Trail Runs in the past, but this is the first year that it has hosted a complete series (regions must have at least three races to host a series).
