Georgia Series to Start New Season on September 22

If you're looking for a trail run in the state of Georgia, the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series is sure to have something for you.

The 2012-13 schedule for the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series will include seven races at seven different locations. Each race is open to runners of all ages and skill levels, with the course distances ranging from a 5K to a full marathon, and several in between.

"We have some exciting venues again for the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series," series director Tim Schroer said. "We think there is enough variety of courses throughout the series for you to really enjoy what you are getting into."

The opening race in the series will be the XTERRA Harbins Park Trail Run at Dacula, Georgia, on September 22. That race will feature a 10K course that is considered challenging enough for elite runners, yet moderate enough for novice runners. As Schroer put it: "It's a great course to kick off the series, as the terrain is very easy to navigate, and some nice elevation change."

All runners who register for the opening race will receive a commemorative Georgia Series pint glass, as well as a dri-fit race shirt (with both men's and women's size options available).

More races will follow in October, November, December, January, February and June. In essence, runners who enter all of the races will get to experience the dramatic changes of scenery as the series progresses through the seasons.

Overall standings for the Georgia Series will be updated after each race. The top runners in each respective age group will earn points at each race toward the overall standings . At the conclusion of the series, the top runner in each age group will be declared a Georgia Series Champion, and will earn a free entry to represent Georgia at the 2013 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship.
