+
It is an Off-Road / Cross Triathlon. Its specificity is that the bike and run courses lead mostly in terrain and we try to avoid paved asphalt roads as much as possible. However, this does not mean that XTERRA is extremely difficult, we would rather say it is extremely fun.
+
It depends on your fitness, sports background and courage.
The Full Distance race is the foundation and the biggest challenge.
If you are fit but have never done a triathlon - we recommend the Sprint Distance race.
If you want to have fun and still experience a challenge, the Super Sprint race is for you, which anyone can handle.
You can sign up for any race, all our races are open to the general public.
+
Relays at an XTERRA race are either 2 or 3 person teams. Put together a group where everyone performs one discipline. You then pass the chip in the transition area and the next person continues.
Example: Lucka is a good swimmer, she starts the race with swimming. Michal is cycling - he waits for Lucka in the transition area and she hands him the chip and he goes cycling. The last one in the group is Franta, who sometimes runs. He is in charge of the last part - running. Michal, after completing the cycling part, comes back to the transition area and hands the chip to Franta, who then runs to the finish line. The relay is then announced together.
+
Unless otherwise specified, XTERRA is always ridden on a mountain bike (MTB) with flat handlebars. This requirement is mainly due to safety reasons, as the course contains technical sections and terrain that is not suitable for gravel bikes.
+
XTERRA Slovakia follows the wetsuit rules of Slovak Triathlon Union. You can find them here: https://www.triathlon.sk/o-nas/smernice-a-dokumenty/pravidla
+
Age categories are divided as follows:
Competitors aged 14-15 fall into the Youth A category and complete the Super Sprint race
Age 16-17 corresponds to the Youth B category with the Sprint Distance race
Competitors 18-19 start in the Junior category also on the Sprint Distance race
Participants from 20 years onwards are classified into age-group races.
+
We recommend arriving preferably 2 days before the start of your race. 2 days before you can ride the course, the day before leave for relaxation, swim a bit in the race location and explore the place. We also recommend booking accommodation on the day of the race. In the afternoon you can take a shower and in the evening enjoy the afterparty together. 3 nights is the ideal time.
+
In the race office, which is always marked on site with the RACE OFFICE signs. Race office will be located in the event village at the Námestie svätej Trojice in Banská Štiavnica.
+
If you are from a location where the car journey takes up to 8 hours, we recommend arriving by car. If you are from further away, we recommend flying to either Bratislava or Vienna airport, where you can then rent a car and arrive at the race. Banská Štiavnica is best accessible by D1 and R1 highways.
+
The race start is a 10-minute drive from the race center. You can get there either by car if you have an escort, or ride your bike there on the road.
+
We recommend orienting yourself according to the city's navigation system and using Google Maps or Waze navigation. There will be a marked parking lot in Banský Studenec (swim location).
+
