For the uninitiated, Short Track is the most intense, thrilling, fan-friendly race format to be added to the XTERRA circuit. Designed to deliver pure action for racers and spectators, the made-for-TV format brings all the thrills and spills of the XTERRA off-road triathlon directly into the race venue, condensing the action of the swim, bike, and run sections into one fast-paced, full-gas sprint directly in front of a live crowd. Over in under 40 minutes, every section is crucial, every corner counts, and the win is decided by a fraction of a second.
As with all XTERRA races no two tracks are the same, but expect a lightning-fast 2x200m swim, a 7-8km MTB section packed with features, and a 2.5-3km foot race to the finish.
From 2024, all live streamed XTERRA Short Track races will form part of the elite-driven XTERRA World Cup, so head to the official World Cup page for race dates, prize money, livestream links, and more.
Short Track is raced by the best off-road elite athletes on the planet, with 30 of the best male racers and 30 of the best female racers going head to head for the prize purse. As point scoring races in the XTERRA World Cup, every race matters, every place counts. The invite-only Short Track field is selected using the top 20 in the World Cup standings, and wild cards are also awarded to worthy competitors to add extra fuel to the fire. Expect an electric mix of big names, local threats, and young guns going full blast from start to finish.
Short Track courses are specially designed with spectators in mind. Watching live from beside the tape lets fans get to see the world's fastest professional athletes in action across all three disciplines. Choose your spot, make some noise, and experience the sheer speed and strength of XTERRA’s elite as they take on the competition while navigating roots, rocks, and everything else nature can put in their way.
All XTERRA World Cup Short Track races will be live streamed directly from between the tape, bringing the action straight from the track to wherever you are. Visit the Watch Live page for upcoming streams, or catch up on the races you’ve missed. Also be sure to follow XTERRA on social media to make sure you’re prepped and ready for the next race in this blink-and-miss-it off-road format.
