The World's Premier Off-Road Triathlon YOUTH Series
The XTERRA Youth Tour provides a clear path for the many young athletes who begin their triathlon journey on a mountain bike to continue racing competitively within the sport of cross-tri and to compete for the title of XTERRA Youth World Champion. A natural stepping stone to the XTERRA World Tour, the Youth Tour offers triathletes aged 14-19 an array of qualifying races around the world, where top age group athletes are awarded slots to compete on the biggest stage of them all at the XTERRA Youth World Championship.
AGE GROUPS AND QUALIFICATION
In alignment with national federations and World Triathlon, the Youth Tour features 3 separate divisions, Youth A, Youth B, and Junior, with 5 XTERRA Youth World Championship slots awarded to the top 5 male and female athletes of each available division within a single qualifying event.
Youth A (aged 14-15) qualifying and championship races are contested within the Super Sprint distance, covering a maximum of 400m swim, 8K bike, and 2K run.
Youth B (aged 16-17) qualifying and championship races are contested within the Sprint distance, covering a maximum of a 750m swim, 15K bike, and 5K run.
Junior (aged 18-19) qualifying and championship races are also contested within the Sprint distance outlined above. Athletes over 18 years of age may choose to participate in Full Distance races, however, the Junior World Championship will be contested as a Sprint Distance race.
