We always need volunteers!
Join us and be part of a fantastic weekend of racing. We are looking for groups or individuals to serve as course marshals and sweeps, help with timing, and hand out recovery at aid stations.
Volunteers will get an event t-shirt, food, and the undying gratitude of the XTERRA family.
Volunteers are also eligible for a free race entry for themselves or a friend. Sign up for a volunteer shift by registering at the link below. Email [email protected] with any questions or to receive your free entry code.
It's a fun weekend on the trails, so we hope to see you there!

Is the bike course on-road or trail?
The majority of the bike course is on the trail around Hagg Lake.
Can I use a gravel bike?
For the XTERRA Portland event, a mountain bike is required, no gravel bikes.
Is the run leg on-road or trail?
The majority of the run course is on trails.
Do I need a wetsuit?
We follow USA Triathlon rules, which generally stipulate that wetsuits are allowed for age group racers if the water temperature is below 78F. In years past, the water temp has been around or above 71 degrees. Meaning, you are allowed to wear a wetsuit, but you don’t have to.
Can I do a relay?
Yes, relays are welcome and encouraged in the full and sprint distance triathlon races.
Do I have to get a parking pass at the Kiosk as I enter Hagg Lake Recreation area?
We highly suggest paying for the parking pass as you enter the Hagg Lake area. There are also pay
kiosks at the nearby Boat Ramp C where you can purchase your parking pass on the day of the race.

Our race is at Bobcat Cove, but our parking is at Boat Ramp C. As you enter Hagg Lake, follow signs to Boat Ramp C and our volunteers will show you where to park. We must all park in the grass parking lot at Boat Ramp C, do not park in any of the paved parking areas. It is an easy walk from the parking area to our race venue. DO NOT PARK AT BOBCAT COVE or drive in that area to drop items off.
