For four remarkable years, the XTERRA World Championship has found a home in Molveno. Cradled by the Brenta Dolomites and embraced by a community whose warmth has defined the athlete experience, this magical place has given competitors moments that extend far beyond the racecourse. Every finish line here has been shaped not only by effort and perseverance, but by the heartfelt welcome of Molveno and Andalo—creating experiences that will last a lifetime.
This year marks the closing of an extraordinary chapter. As we gather one last time in Trentino, we celebrate the stories written on these trails, the friendships forged on the shores of Lago di Molveno, and the shared spirit that binds our global XTERRA Family. True to our values of Challenge, Exploration, Authenticity, and Care, Molveno has been more than a host—it has been a partner in our mission to inspire people everywhere to embrace wild places and discover their best selves.
And while this is the final year of the World Championship in Italy, it is also a moment of continuity. The torch now passes to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where the 30th anniversary of XTERRA will be celebrated amidst the rugged beauty of the American Southwest. There, a new community awaits—equally welcoming, equally passionate, and ready to write the next chapter in XTERRA’s journey.
To every athlete, thank you for being part of this historic moment. May your race in Molveno be filled with strength, joy, and the knowledge that you are forever part of something greater.

It is with great pride and emotion that I extend my warmest greetings to all the athletes, delegations, and enthusiasts who have traveled from all over the world to take part in the 2025 edition of the XTERRA World Championship.
Set against the extraordinary backdrop of Lake Molveno and the majestic Brenta Dolomites — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — Italy once again has the honor of hosting an event that goes far beyond the realm of sport. This is a true celebration of off-road triathlon, of the XTERRA spirit, and of the values that make our movement unique: passion, resilience, respect for nature, and community.
With more than 50 nations represented, an emotion-filled program, and a global community united by a shared vision, the 2025 XTERRA World Championship perfectly embodies the international and inclusive nature of triathlon. The Elite, Age Group, and Youth races will deliver an unforgettable spectacle, but above all, they will showcase the commitment, dedication, and talent of every participant.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the organizers, the volunteers, the local institutions, and all those who, with passion and professionalism, have made this extraordinary event possible. And of course, a special thank you to the athletes: with your enthusiasm and determination, you are the beating heart of XTERRA

Discover Trentino, a dynamic alpine region where the soaring peaks of the Dolomites meet endless possibilities for adventure. This is where athletes come to test their limits and find their flow. Trentino is a year-round outdoor sanctuary where crisp air, rugged trails, and untamed landscapes set the stage for performance and play. In winter, more than 800 km of pristine ski slopes await, while summer transforms the mountains into a vast natural arena filled with hiking, mountain biking, climbing, windsurfing, rafting, canyoning, and via ferrata routes. The diversity of terrain challenges the body, sharpens the mind, and inspires the spirit.
Families are naturally woven into the Trentino experience. From adventure parks and shimmering alpine lakes to immersive wildlife encounters and theme-based educational trails, every age finds its own path to discovery. The newly launched Via delle Valli connects 50 hidden valleys across the Brenta and Adamello Brenta parks, inviting athletes and explorers alike to wander deeper into this extraordinary wilderness.
And when the day’s effort is done, Trentino slows its pace. Settle into a rustic mountain hut for alpine cuisine, unwind in lakeside wellness retreats, or simply pause and breathe beneath skies brushed with evening gold. Trentino is not just a destination. It is where performance, connection, and the pure joy of movement converge.
High on the Paganella Plateau, the Dolomiti Paganella region offers one of Europe’s most versatile outdoor playgrounds, framed by the towering peaks of the Brenta Dolomites and pristine alpine forests. For athletes, this is a destination built for movement. With more than 400 km of world-class mountain biking trails spanning flow lines, all-mountain loops, and enduro descents, it has earned its reputation as one of Europe’s best bike resorts. Three interconnected bike zones link riders of every level to a network of lifts, singletracks, pump tracks, and skill parks, creating endless opportunities to train, push limits, and play.
Yet Dolomiti Paganella offers much more than riding. Families can explore scenic hiking routes, glide across crystal-clear lakes, or visit the local wildlife park, home to bears, wolves, and other native species. Quiet alpine villages like Molveno, Andalo, and Fai della Paganella invite moments of rest between adventures, where warm hospitality meets breathtaking views.
Whether chasing speed on two wheels, hiking beneath the limestone spires, or savoring mountain cuisine at a lakeside lodge, Dolomiti Paganella blends energy and serenity in perfect balance. It is a place where athletes, explorers, and families find their own path through the heart of the Brenta Dolomites.
At the foot of the Brenta Dolomites lies Molveno, a lakeside gem where deep blue waters reflect soaring limestone peaks and time seems to slow. Crowned Italy’s most beautiful lake multiple years running, Molveno is the perfect blend of athletic playground and serene retreat. Its alpine setting offers endless opportunities for movement and discovery. Athletes can dive into open-water swims, paddle across crystal-clear waters, or explore lakeside trails built for running, hiking, and cycling. With its mild mountain climate, training feels effortless, recovery natural, and every session comes with a view worth remembering.
Beyond the shoreline, families will find parks, playgrounds, and gentle walking paths shaded by beech and fir forests, as well as cable cars that climb toward panoramic viewpoints high above the lake. In the heart of the village, quiet streets and family-run restaurants create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, inviting you to pause and savor Trentino’s alpine cuisine.
Whether you come to test yourself in the water, ride beneath the peaks, or simply unwind on the grassy lakeside beaches, Molveno captures the essence of balance. It is a place where athletes recharge, families connect, and nature feels close enough to touch.
Tucked between the Brenta Dolomites and the forests of Paganella, Andalo is a mountain village where energy, community, and nature come together. Known for its warm hospitality and state-of-the-art facilities, Andalo has evolved into one of Trentino’s most versatile alpine destinations, designed to keep athletes moving and families engaged.
At the heart of the village is Andalo Life, a 100,000 m² sports and wellness complex that offers everything from swimming pools and tennis courts to rock climbing gyms, ice rinks, and football pitches. It’s a place where athletes can sharpen their performance, recover between sessions, or share active experiences with family and friends. In summer, the surrounding trails open up to hikers, cyclists, and runners, while winter transforms the area into a ski haven with direct access to Paganella’s 50 km of slopes.
Families are at the center of life here, with kid-friendly parks, easy-access hiking paths, and playful workshops woven seamlessly into the village atmosphere. After a day of adventure, cozy mountain lodges and alpine restaurants offer the perfect setting to relax, refuel, and connect.
Andalo is more than a starting point for outdoor exploration. It is a modern mountain hub where sport, culture, and nature find their perfect rhythm.
You can arrive by car, train, bus or plane, thanks to our excellent location, and our closeness to the main roads that connect us to the major cities in Northern Italy and Austria, as well as to train stations and airports.

The official water temperature will be taken at 08:30 on race morning, one-hour before the start of the race. According to conditions, the Italian federation will follow World Triathlon rules.
Swim course is "M" shaped with start on the left side of the beach facing the lake.
After a first buoy you will swim back to the beach for the Australian exit and jump back in the water from the pontoon for the second loop.
Water should be between 16°C to 19°C according to data from previous years. It is expected to be flat but it could be choppy in the event of windy conditions.
The official water temperature will be taken at 9am on race morning, one-hour before the start of the elite race.
According to conditions, the head referee from Italian federation will follow World Triathlon rules.
The bike course is a 2-lap course of 16K each.
After a first 3K flat loop around the lake on a narrow single track (be patient if you are stuck in the traffic, you will have plenty of time to make the difference in the following uphill…), the course rises for the next 7 kilometers with a mix of large gravel trail and some more rocky, steeper parts, sometimes with rocks, to hit the highest point of the course at kilometer 10.
From that point it will only be downhill until the end of the loop, with a first part quite easy with good grip and a second part more technical with roots and rocks that can be slippery in rainy conditions before riding through Molveno village and getting into the field of play with wooden ramps and all the spectators cheering you on.
Please check the bike course review by Nico Lebrun on Youtube
Important note: During recon, do not ride or run uphill on Blade Runners Track or Goonies Trail. These are downhill only!
The run course starts with a very fast 1.5K section on tarmac and fire road where you will need speed. The course then turns right to enter a tight steep 300m-long climbing single track that will break your legs and heart rate for sure. Exiting this physical and technical section, the course turns left to find a rolling fire road until the aid station located half way. From this point the course is only going down alternating single tracks and steep technical sections, sometimes rocky or rootsy, before finally reaching the lake shore for the last kilometer.... of the first lap!
Transition area is divided in 3 zones for Female AG, Male AG and Elite athletes. At the time of checking-in the morning of the race, please follow instructions from Race Day Information. Be aware that during the race entrance and exit will be different for Elite and AG athletes as indicated in the map below.
Bike: 3 aid stations km 9 - 19 - 27 and 1 tech zone
Run: 4 aid stations will be set at km 0.3 - 2.8 - 5.3 - 7.8

Composition:
Each aid station will provide water, cola, iso drink, bananas, energy gels and bars

Coaches will have to show access badge (in race packet) to enter the reserved area.

XTERRA is proud to have a continued commitment to sustainable racing as we strive to reduce our carbon footprint, minimise our environmental impact, and protect the places we play.
In an effort to minimise the use of plastics at the World Championship event, only biodegradable cups and reusable water tanks will be used at aid stations, the finish line, and the recovery area, plastic course marking tape will be replaced by recyclable flags, and finishers will be presented with a trophy carved from recycled wood.
We urge all participants, family, and friends to join us in doing our part to leave no trace in the beautiful venue provided by the Molveno community.
Bring your own cup, choose bikes over cars, share rides where possible, avoid unnecessary plastics and waste, and please use the recycle bins available on site.
Together, we can create better races for the planet.
