American Council ACE Certified Personal Trainer
Colorado MTB High School League Coaches Instructor
BICP Level 1 MTB Skills Instructor.
I began coaching in 2009. I combined my background as a registered New Zealand teacher with my experience as an elite endurance athlete. I have represented New Zealand in three sports at World Championships: elite MTB, Elite Xterra, and Track and field, and coached individual athletes in endurance sports.
Since then, our coaching practice has evolved and grown into Aim High Performance Coaching. My husband Brian Smith, a fellow Xterra professional, and I coach together across endurance sports — cycling, mountain biking, triathlon, running, nordic skiing, and winter sports.
We specialize in individualized coaching for our athletes, from completing an event for the first time to qualifying for a national team, racing in an age group, developing and racing professionally, and racing at World Championship XTERRA, Mountain bike, ITU triathlon, and Multisport championships.
I served for 7 years as a coach and head coach for the Colorado high school MTB league and as the Crested Butte Devo U19 program manager, leading the MTB team to state championships in its division. We now collaborate with CB Devo and local youth to further develop MTB racing.
I am a cycling coach with the Western Colorado University cycling team.
Testimonials.
“Jenny and Brian are a power duo. They both bring different perspectives to the table, providing a full picture of coaching. Under their coaching, I’ve grown not only in fitness and skill but also in the understanding of the practices of training.” Amari Graber, Professional XTERRA Athlete.
"Jenny Smith has coached me since the very beginning of my triathlon racing adventure, since 2009. Her personalized approach to training, recognizing my initial and evolving abilities and fitness, consideration for real-life time constraints, and understanding of changes due to age and menopause—this is what a great coach looks like. Jenny has a way of pushing her athletes to excel beyond what they thought was possible, but does so in a very caring and open manner. I have always been motivated by her professional excellence in cycling and Multisport. If you know Jenny, you trust her experience and wisdom. As Jenny and I have developed a great friendship over the years, I have also had the pleasure of getting to know Brian, another outstanding professional athlete and natural teacher. I’m so excited to see how this super tag team will work together to help me continue to advance as an aging athlete". Michelle Blankenship, a multi-time North American and World Championship age-group racer.
