XTERRA Anglesea Full Distance Triathlon is the classic XTERRA race. An ocean swim off Anglesea's beautiful main beach, technical singletrack through the Eumeralla trails, and a rewarding run through the Anglesea heathland — its an off-road race through an adventure playground. Whether you're battling for slots to the World Championship, clashing with elites, or simply aiming to conquer the full-distance off-road triathlon, this race has something to offer all athletes with a sense of adventure.

XTERRA Elite Athletes

Athletes looking to compete in the elite category and be eligible for 2027 XTERRA World Championships elite qualification spots must tick ‘Enter as an elite competitor’ box as part of the online entry system AND must be a certified elite competitor recognised by XTERRA Global. XTERRA Age Group – World Championship qualification

28 World Championship qualification spots are available for age group athletes (one spot per age group). Age Group athletes looking to qualify for the 2027 XTERRA World Championships must enter the full distance race as a standard entrant and commence in the mass start. World Championship qualification is fully explained on the XTERRA website here

Aus Triathlon

The XTERRA Anglesea full distance triathlon is fully sanctioned with Aus Triathlon so all competitors must be either: a) a current member of Aus Triathlon or b) purchase a day license. Day licenses can be purchased during the online entry process and cost $22.50 per individual entry of $22.50 for a relay team entry.

World Triathlon - Qualifying Event

The XTERRA Anglesea Full Distance triathlon doubles as a World Qualifying Event for the 2027 Cross Tri World Championships and will be the premier off-road triathlon event in the East Coast.

To be considered for the 2027 Cross Tri World Championships athletes must be a current Aus Triathlon member (you cannot qualify if racing on a day license). Please enter your Aus Tri membership number in the online entry process (if you need to remember your number you can log back in to your entry and update it later).

The following categories will be recognised in accordance with XTERRA and Aus Tri:

Individuals (Solo competitors who complete the entire course alone)

  • Elite individual - male / female

  • 15-19 years - male / female

  • 20- 24 years - male / female

  • 25- 29 years - male / female

  • 30-34 years - male / female

  • 35- 39 years - male / female

  • 40-44 years - male / female

  • 45- 49 years - male / female

  • 50-54 years - male / female

  • 55 – 59 years - male / female

  • 60-64 years - male / female

  • 65-69 years - male / female

  • 70 -74 years - male / female

  • 75-79 years - male / female

All age categories are according to your age on 31 December 2027

Relay Teams of up to 3. (A relay team with either 2 or 3 competitors who divide the course between them)

  • Junior Team (all competitors aged between 15 to 19 years of age) Open - any gender mix

  • Male Team

  • Mixed Team

NOTE: Junior athletes must be 15 years of age on 31 December 2027.
There are minimum age limits for this event in accordance with Aus Tri policy (basically you must be 15 yrs or older in order to compete as either an individual or in a relay team). Rapid Ascent regrets that we are unable to include younger competitors in the Full Distance Triathlon.

RACE RULES

The organisers Rapid Ascent have sole discretion to alter or amend the event format or the rules in order to increase the safety to participants or for any other reason deemed appropriate.

The rules of the event are as follows:

  • (all participants) must read and sign the Participant Indemnity.

  • (juniors only - i.e. under 18 on race day)

  • must have their parent or guardian advise the organisers, Rapid Ascent, of their intention to enter

  • parent or guardian must read and sign an authorisation and indemnity

  • (swimmers) must be able to swim 1,500m unassisted in open water.

  • Wetsuits are OPTIONAL for ALL events and age categories. The expected water temp is approx 19 degrees

  • Participants must wear competitor identification number plates/tattoos as outlined in the event program

  • Competitors must use the same bike frame and wheels for the entire bike leg. You may receive assistance from other competitors to repair your bike. Penalty for using someone else’s bike frame or wheels and for lending your own bike frame or wheels to another competitor is 60 minutes for the borrower and 60 minutes for the lender.

  • Assistance provided by other competitors is permitted, but is limited to the provision of, drinks, nutrition, pumps, tires, inner tubes, puncture repair kits, and the repair of equipment for safety. Athletes may provide to other athletes competing in the same competition items of equipment, provided that the donor is able to continue with their own competition.

  • No riding is permitted in the TA and helmets must be fastened before exiting the TA.

  • Any competitor who withdraws from the race MUST notify an official. This is an essential requirement to avoid unnecessary searches being conducted and emergency services being engaged.

  • Failure to abide by rules may result in time penalty or disqualification.

  • All entrants are permitted to lodge protests against results or decisions enforced during the event. A judging panel of three Rapid Ascent Directors will adjudicate on all protests and other contentious matters, and their decision will be final.

  • Rapid Ascent has sole discretion to alter or amend the race format or the rules in order to increase the safety of participants or for any other reason deemed appropriate.
