The swim course is completed in 2 laps of 550m each in Lake Olbersdorf with a short shore leave. Traditionally, the swimmers do not wear a wetsuit, as the water in the lake is usually very warm.

The centerpiece is the 30 km circuit of the MTB course through the Zittau Mountains Nature Park. This is just one lap. This makes the MTB course more varied, but also more demanding in terms of fitness and technique. The final wooden 180° bend directly in Lake Olbersdorf is legendary.

The running course is a two-lap course covering a total of 10 km in the immediate vicinity of the lake, peppered with numerous natural and artificial obstacles. The many spectators along the course create an indescribable atmosphere that gives athletes goose bumps, especially when they cross the finish arch, which is designed in the style of the region's typical half-timbered houses and is the landmark of the XTERRA O-SEE Challenge.
