The top 20 highest ranked XTERRA athletes that are registered for the Main XTERRA Race
Five (5) Wildcard allocations
Wildcards will be awarded to athletes to increase the quality of a short track event. The awarding of Wildcard invitations for XTERRA Short Track races is at the discretion of the XTERRA Short Track Race committee. The race committee’s decision on the awarding of wildcard invitations is final and cannot be appealed.

Athletes who receive a Wildcard must participate and finish the Main Race to qualify for prize money or to qualify for future Wildcard invitations.
a) On a Race weekend outlined in 6.2.a (Short Track prior to Main Race) wildcard allocations will be based on but not limited to the following criteria.
Athletes with proven XTERRA Short Track ability, registered for the main XTERRA race but outside of the top 20 world-ranked athletes.
Elite Athletes from Ironman, World Triathlon, Challenge or Professional Triathlon Union
Local Athletes with proven ability to compete in short track events
Elite Athletes from Other sports, MTB, Cyclocross, etc. Must evidence the ability to swim <6min 400m.
b) On a Race weekend outlined in 6.2.b (Short Track after the Main race) wildcard allocations will be based on but not limited to the following criteria.
Athletes with a top 20 XTERRA World Ranking who finish in a position outside of the top 20 overall in the Main race due to a mechanical issue.
