The 12K Trail run is for anyone who enjoys to get out and take part in outdoor and off-road sports. Whether you are looking for a fast time, or just a good healthy experience, this race is for you.
The XTERRA Mato de Miranda Trail Run will have its third edition on February 23, 2025, with the start and finish in Mato de Miranda just 200 meters from the Railway Station!
The organization of the XTERRA Mato de Miranda Trail Run is the result of a partnership between the Bikeweels Team from Pombalinho and the Núcleo do Sporting Clube de Portugal from Golegã.
The XTERRA Mato de Miranda Trail Run is a sporting event that aims to promote sports in general and Trail Run in particular, publicizing the trails and challenges present in our region, reinforcing the XTERRA Brand.
The XTERRA Mato de Miranda Trail Run is made up of:

The route is essentially on dirt, trails with a lot of loose rock, areas with water, streams and streams, with tree trunks, crossing an asphalt road and with the finish area also on asphalt.
Along the entire route there will be markings made essentially with arrows, which can be reinforced with lime or stone dust and also white ribbons with the XTERRA brand, the objective is for the athlete to always have an indication of the path in sight.
On the route there is circulation on public roads, roads, accesses, property owners' facilities, private paths, etc. As the route is not closed for the event, you should be aware that there may be vehicles, people and animals circulating. In these situations, the traffic code must be complied with and when it does not apply, free movement of everyone must be respected and common sense must be used.
The time limit to complete the routes is 7 hours (16h30 ). To ensure compliance with the time limit, athletes will have to pass the checkpoint located at Km 30 before 15h30. Athletes who do not pass this control before 15h30 will be prevented from continuing for safety reasons and sent by the organization to the starting point. Without prejudice to the organization, the classification of athletes who finish the race outside the time limit may be permitted.
Time control will be done using a chip, and there are electronic and manual control points on the routes. Control of times and classifications will be ensured by a timing company, times and classifications will be posted at the race location and on the event's official page, where they can also be followed online.
Throughout the Course there will be intermediate checkpoints, where intermediate time controls will be checked, and where mandatory equipment can be checked, as well as the athlete's general well-being.
Refueling points will be distributed throughout the route and at the end of the race, the organization will not provide cups, therefore athletes will be responsible for carrying means so they can refuel, namely cups, bottles, backpacks, etc.
In addition to the planned supplies, the organization may reinforce them if weather conditions so suggest.

The organization takes out mandatory insurance, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 10/2009 of January 12, for this type of event, with the premium being included in the registration fee.
In the event of an accident, the value of the deductible is the responsibility of the athlete:
• 10% Permanent disability;
• 90€ Treatment expenses.
The organization will not assume the costs of accidents or be responsible for insurance, in which the athlete has not informed of the accident within 2 hours after the end of the route, to the email xterraportugal@gmail.com.
The organization undertakes to provide all necessary means for the participant/athlete to complete their race as long as they respect and accept these regulations.
The participant must have their registration regularized within the deadlines established in the registration process and acceptance of the rules contained in the regulations.
To guarantee the safety and conditions stipulated in the regulations for all participants, registration limits were established.

Pairs are a category of the XTERRA Trail Run Series, the Pairs will be formed by teams of 2 athletes who must start, run and finish the race together, and by together it is understood that they must always be within a maximum distance of 1 minute, and must also finish the test separated by a maximum of 1 minute.
In case of non-compliance, if during the race a judge times a separation greater than 1 minute, they will have a 30-minute penalty.
At the finish line, and if they finish the race with more than 1 minute of separation, the punishment will be disqualification.
All participants under the age of 18 must present a liability waiver duly signed by their guardian/guardian, which will be made available on the event's official page. The liability waiver must be sent to xterraportugal@gmail.com by the registration deadline. Participation is limited to the following ages:
Trail Marathon/Long 35 km, 20 years old
Short Trail 22 Km, 18 years old
Mini Trail 12 Km, 16 years old
Walk 12 km, 12 years old
All participants must be in perfect health and be fully aware of the extent and specificity of the test. They must also have acquired a real capacity for personal autonomy to manage the difficulties and problems that may arise from them.
Participants must inform the event organizers of any health problems they have, so they can obtain first aid if necessary, such as: diabetes, hypertension, asthma and others.
Participants must ensure that they have, at any time during the race, the necessary hydration and nutrition to reach the end of the event.
External aid is understood as assistance to the participant, whether food, first aid or similar.
During the route, only mutual assistance between participants is permitted.
External help is only allowed for athletes at fuel stations. Outside of these locations, only external assistance will be permitted, for reasons of force majeure, namely when the well-being or health of the participant is at stake.
The bib is personal and non-transferable and must be worn on the front, preferably at chest height. The transfer of bibs must be requested from the organization by February 16 to the email xterraportugal@gmail.com.

Lack of material considered mandatory will result in a 30-minute penalty per item.
Inappropriate behavior, the use of offensive language, verbal aggression or any other type of aggression will be subject to a warning, fine, disqualification and/or expulsion, with any deserving act being reported to the authorities.
As it will be impossible to cut off road traffic at some crossings, participants must drive as carefully as possible and comply with traffic rules in urban areas and public roads.
They must respect agricultural, forestry areas and private properties, under penalty of having to assume potential damages and compensation resulting from non-compliance.
Participants must leave the route in the state in which they found it, it is expressly prohibited to leave rubbish outside the designated areas, or alter natural elements. Participants must respect the race signage. It is prohibited to remove or alter the signage placed by the organization, under penalty of being disqualified.

For all registrations, VISA and automatic ATM references will be generated, with a limited time for payment, otherwise they will be inactive.

No refunds or returns of registrations will be made. It will be possible to change registration between routes. To do this, you must contact the Organization via email at xterraportugal@gmail.com. In the case where the value is higher, the difference will be charged. If the value is lower, the difference will not be refunded.
The event may be suspended or canceled by decision of official entities, such as Civil Protection, GNR, MAI, ICNF. Suspension or cancellation may also be decided by the Regional Health Delegate for public health reasons. In any of the cancellation situations for reasons of force majeure described above, registrants will see their registration transferred to the next edition or will be refunded as follows:
• Cancellation until December 15, 2024: 50% of the amount paid;
• Cancellation between December 16th and February 1st, 2025: 30% of the amount paid;
• Cancellation after February 1, 2025: no refund.

The collection of bib numbers will take place at the office (see Program), and can be collected by the person upon presentation of the email confirming registration. Team numbers must be removed en masse by a person responsible for the team, duly identified. The organization will make the set of numbers available for teams that have more than 4 participants.
Prizes will be awarded for each Trail Marathon, Long Trail and Short Trail route:
- To the top 3 overall;
- To the top 3 in each category
- To the first 3 teams classified in the 35 K Marathon (the 3 classified from each team count).
- To the first 3 teams classified in the 22 K half marathon(the 3 classified from each team count).
For the purpose of classifying and scoring athletes in the categories, the age the athlete will be on October 31, 2025 will be considered.
In all situations of non-compliance, the organization reserves the right to review the penalizing factor, after a case-by-case assessment. Situations not mentioned will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The following will result in disqualification:
Failure to follow the route; Failure to pass a control point;
Disobey the organization's instructions; Participation with another athlete's bib number and the
Participants are obliged to behave responsibly in terms of cleaning and preserving the environment in all areas used by the race, from the race route to the start and finish areas.
Throwing waste on the floor before, during and at the end of the race is strictly prohibited.
Participants must be careful to keep any waste from the food and drink packaging used to replace them during the race.
At the end of the race and in the supply areas, containers will be made available by the organization to deposit the trash carried by the athletes.
They can be made in writing to the organization up to two hours after the end of the event.
The start and finish will be in the center of the town of Mato de Miranda Freguesia de Azinhaga and Concelho da Golegã, to access the place participants can use their own vehicles, but can also use the train with a stop at Mato de Miranda station just 200 meters from the center of the event at 09:08 coming from Lisbon and at 08:48 coming from Tomar!
Acceptance of this regulation necessarily implies that the participant, when registering for the XTERRA Trail de Mato de Miranda, authorizes the race organizers to record all or part of their participation in it, it also presupposes their agreement so that the organization can use the image of the athlete for the promotion and dissemination of the event in all its forms (radio, written press, video, photography, internet, posters, media, social networks, etc.) and assigns all rights to its commercial and advertising exploitation as deemed appropriate. appropriate to execute, without the athlete's right to receive any economic compensation.
The personal data of the participants indicated in the registration form will be recorded by the organizing and receiving entity of registrations for the purposes of processing at the event, namely insurance, list of registrants, news and classification.
For registration purposes, the following personal data will be requested, as stipulated with the entity receiving registration: name, date of birth, gender, nationality, municipality of residence, chosen test, CPF number, CPF, email, telephone contact , team, t-shirt size, name and emergency contact.
The data of participants in the Trail Marathon, long trail and short trail races may be disclosed and used for scoring purposes in the XTERRA Trail World Circuit, or elsewhere where applicable.
All participants can exercise their right to access, rectify or cancel their personal data by sending an email to xterraportugal@gmail.com.
In the event of an adversity, accident or physical failure, the decision of the organization or medical personnel is sovereign, and the athlete must respect it.
The decision, for any reason, to cancel the event must be immediately communicated to the organization, in person or by telephone.
In the case of withdrawal without due notice to the organization, which causes a search and rescue operation, the cost related to this procedure will be attributed to those who neglected the duty to inform their withdrawal.
Whenever possible, cancellations should be made at a control or fueling station. The organization will provide transportation from the drop-off point to arrival. It is essential that participants help anyone in danger and alert the nearest checkpoint or gas station or contact the organization.
If an athlete considers they need medical assistance, they must request support at the supply point (PA) or request assistance from members of the organization if they are present or through the telephone numbers listed on the bib. You can still call 911, but in this case the athlete is responsible for the costs of medical procedures and transportation.
Cases not covered by this regulation will be handled by the organization.
Registration for the event presupposes acceptance of the rules established in this regulation.
This regulation may be changed at any time and without prior notice by the event organization.
