Rules & Info

The information below may be from a previous edition of the event, and is subject to change.

Can I use a gravel bike?

For the XTERRA Portland Full Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon and the Duathlon, a mountain bike is required, no gravel bike.  For the Super Sprint event, all bikes are welcome (except electric bikes), but note that the bike course is mostly on trails.

How will the Duathlon start?

The Duathlon will have a time trial start. Athletes will line up with their bikes at the entry to the transition area. They will be sent off, one by one, every 30 seconds. Each athlete will run through the transition area with their bike and then hop on their bike at the bike mount sign.
