Article 1 – Organization

The Jura Team Bike & Run Association organizes the Vallée de Joux Trail with the support of the Vallée de Joux Sports Center.

Article 2 – Events

Running races in the heart of nature, mostly following hiking trails and crossing the Vaud Jura Regional Park. The races take place in a single stage, at your own pace, within a limited time.

Article 3 – Environment

Because we love nature, let's respect it. It is essential to follow the marked trails without cutting across them. Cutting across a trail causes significant disturbance to wildlife and irreversible erosion of the site, thereby irreparably damaging it. Do not throw away bar wrappers or tissues. A few grams in your pockets will not slow you down and will allow everyone to fully enjoy this beautiful region and be able to return. Each participant undertakes to comply with the Eco Trail Charter appended to these race rules. Any competitor found in violation will be immediately disqualified.

Article 4 – Conditions of participation

These races are open to anyone, male or female, born in 2010 or before (cadet, junior, senior, and veteran categories), whether licensed or not. Each participant agrees to have sufficient training and to be in a state of health that allows them to participate in the event for which they are registered. Participation in the Vallée de Joux Trail implies unreserved acceptance of these rules and the ethics of the race.

Article 5 – Cancellation of registration

With our partner MSO Chrono, you have the option of taking out cancellation insurance when you register. This is the only way to be entitled to a refund.

Article 6 – Runner bags

Each competitor in the 22K & 36K races can leave a bag containing items of their choice at the start of the race at the Abbey on Sunday morning, to be collected at the finish line at the Vallée de Joux Sports Center in Le Sentier. Bags will be given to either the competitor or their relatives, upon presentation of the race number, until 5 p.m. on Sunday evening. After this time, runners must come and collect their bags themselves, at their own expense, from the organizers in Le Sentier. As the contents of the bags are not checked, no complaints about the contents at the finish line will be accepted. It is recommended that you do not place any valuables in your bag.

Article 7 – Refreshments Semi-autonomy

The principle of individual semi-self-sufficient racing is the rule. Refreshment stations stocked with food and drink are provided:

68 km course: 4 solid and liquid

36 km course: 2 solid and liquid

22 km course: 1 solid and liquid

12 km course: 1 solid and liquid

6 km course: at the finish line

Warning: no glasses or cups will be provided at the refreshment stations, so you must bring your own cup for the entire duration of the race. Unauthorized refreshments: any refreshments provided to a competitor outside the official stations are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

Article 8 – Supporters and animals

Bicycles, mountain bikes, and motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited on the course. Any personal assistance outside the official refreshment areas is prohibited, as is accompanying competitors during the race. Running with a dog, even on a leash, is prohibited.

Article 9 – Time limits – interruption of the race

The maximum race time is:

– 11:30 a.m. for the 68K

– 7:00 a.m. for the 36K

– 4:30 a.m. for the 22K

– 2:30 a.m. for the 12K

The cut-off times (time barriers) at the main checkpoints are listed in the details for each route. Any competitor wishing to continue the race after the cut-off time may only do so after returning their race number, under their own responsibility and completely independently. In the event of bad weather conditions, and for safety reasons, the organizers reserve the right to stop the race in progress and/or modify the route and/or modify the time barriers.

Article 10 – Withdrawal and repatriation

In the event of withdrawal not due to injury, competitors must notify the person in charge of the nearest refreshment or control station and hand in their race number. They must return to the Vallée de Joux by their own means. When the refreshment stations close, the organizers may, within the limits of available resources, repatriate runners who have withdrawn and are still present at the station. In the event of adverse weather conditions justifying the partial or total stoppage of the race, the organization will ensure the repatriation of the runners who have stopped as soon as possible from the refreshment stations.

Article 11 – Assistance – safety

Safety stations will be set up at several points along the course. These stations will be in radio contact with the race control center. Rescue teams will be present throughout the event. They will be able to intervene on the course within a reasonable time frame and, if necessary, call on the REGA. Medical personnel will be authorized to remove the race number and disqualify any competitor who is unable to continue the event.

Article 12 – Rankings and awards

No cash prizes will be awarded. A ranking will be established for each category as well as an overall ranking. The top three men and women in the overall ranking, as well as the top three in each category, will receive awards.

Article 13 – Disqualification – penalties

Competitors who refuse to comply with these rules will be eliminated, in particular for:

Not wearing a race number

Falsifying a race number

Being late for the start of the competition

Failing to check in at control points

Exceeding the maximum time allowed at control points

Polluting or damaging the sites crossed (cutting paths, littering)

Refusal to be examined by medical staff or to have their equipment checked.

Anyone not carrying the mandatory equipment listed in the rules will not be allowed to start or will be disqualified. Random checks will be carried out on the course and at the finish line.

Anyone wishing to make a complaint must do so in writing to the Race Committee at the finish line.

Article 14 – Post-race meal

A good meal is provided to each runner upon registration for runners on the 22K, 36K, and 58K courses on Sunday.

The meal is provided by the Vallée de Joux Sports Center and is entirely its responsibility.

Article 15 – Image rights

All competitors expressly waive their image rights during the event and waive any recourse against the organizer and its approved partners for the use of such images.

Article 16 – Insurance

Civil liability

The organizer takes out civil liability insurance for the duration of the event. This civil liability insurance covers the financial consequences of its liability, that of its employees, and that of the participants.

Personal accident

Each competitor must have personal accident insurance covering any search and rescue costs. Such insurance can be taken out with any organization of the competitor's choice.

Please note: helicopter rescues in Switzerland are subject to a charge.
