Introduction

Welcome Messages

A few words of welcome from XTERRA and key event partners.

Welcome to Dunsborough, the home of the 2026 XTERRA APAC Champs!

This place captures so much of what XTERRA is about: clear water, coastal trails, and a landscape that invites people to get outside. It is a fitting setting for our community to gather once again.

I would like to recognise our Australian partners at Rapid Ascent. They are the original creators of this event and have been exceptional stewards of it for many years. Their experience, care for the land, and commitment to the athletes are the reason why this championship continues to grow into something special. We are proud to work alongside them, and grateful for the platform they have built for the XTERRA Community here in Australia.

To every athlete who has travelled from across Asia-Pacific and around the world to be here, thank you for being part of it. Some of you are chasing championship results, some are testing yourselves against the course, and others are simply here to experience the trails and the community that surrounds them. All of those reasons belong here.

Enjoy the week, respect the landscape that hosts us, and take the time to connect with the people around you. That has always been the real heart of XTERRA.

Welcome to paradise.

Welcome to the second edition of the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship in Dunsborough.

To race in Dunsborough is to enter a dialogue with the landscape. Here, where the red earth meets the turquoise ocean, we do not gather to conquer the terrain, but to immerse ourselves in its rhythm.

In a short time, this event has found its soul. This is not due to the scale of the production, but to the strong community that breathes life into it. You are the swimmers, riders, and runners who show up real and rooted, transforming an event into a collective human adventure.

XTERRA has always been a call to mindful movement in wild places. This weekend is an invitation to explore deeper: to discover the secrets of these trails, the warmth of the local culture, and the resilience within yourself.

We are committed to elevating this experience year after year, ensuring that the authenticity of the event remains unscripted and respected.

To the athletes: We honor your journey and dedication. As you push your limits, remember that you are part of a global movement to Live More With Nature. When we honour the wild, we learn to protect it.

We wish you an exploration filled with emotion, discovery, and the joy of the challenge that awaits you.

The Cook Labor Government is a proud sponsor of the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championships through Tourism Western Australia’s Regional Events Scheme (RES), funded by Royalties for Regions.

RES was established to support event holders across the State with the development of events to drive tourism to regional Western Australia. The scheme plays an important role in creating a timely reason for visitors to travel to the State’s five tourism regions, activating pockets of Western Australia and creating vibrancy, while showcasing the host region’s unique and diverse attractions.

A total of 63 regional events across Western Australia have been awarded funding through the

2025-26 RES, and includes a $150,000 funding pool for the Regional Aboriginal Events Scheme, which exclusively allocates funding to events delivering Aboriginal activities and experiences.

The Western Australian Government is proud to sponsor all these regional events, which help bring vibrancy to local communities and drive visitor spend, injecting millions into regional economies.

Tourism is a key part of our plan to diversify the economy, create jobs and develop business opportunities, especially in regional Western Australia. Events play an important role in this plan and also contribute to the Government’s vision for Perth and Western Australia to be the fastest growing events destination in the South East Asia region.

The Western Australian Government sponsors a range of sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events across the state, to attract visitors and encourage them to stay longer, disperse further and spend more while they are here.

We hope everyone enjoys the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championships and takes the time to explore the South West region.
