The 19th XTERRA France takes place July 4-5, 2026, as one of the largest off-road community celebrations returns to Xonrupt-Longemer in the Vosges mountain range.
The event enters its 15th year in Xonrupt after first beginning in 2006 in Saint-Raphaël. Since moving into the Vosges, the crowd has become a major part of the experience.
The Xonrupt-Longemer tourism board describes the atmosphere around the lake as one where “Every year over 2,000 athletes meet in a crazy, sporty, family atmosphere around Lake Longemer.”

Participation Across All Ages
XTERRA France is built across kids, Youth Tour competitors to the most experienced age group athletes and the elite field.
The Saturday schedule begins with the SwimRun formats and kids racing. Sunday brings the Full Distance Triathlon over 1.5K swim, 40K mountain bike, and 10K trail run, along with the Sprint Triathlon over 500m swim, 20K bike, and 5K run.
Emma Pirodon points to the same range in the field, saying that “beginners to experts and even little ones can set off to discover new playgrounds and challenge themselves in a friendly and family atmosphere.”

Nature Rules in the Vosges
Jens Roth of Germany says the event “takes place completely in nature from start to finish.”
Nicolas Duré, winner of the 2025 elite men’s race, says, “The combination of an exceptional natural setting and a demanding course makes it one of the most iconic events on the XTERRA circuit. It's you against nature; nature sets the rules. And above all, the community is incredible: humble, passionate about adventure, and always caring.”
The course is technical enough to influence the result, but the event has also become known for the way the village, volunteers, and spectators stay close to the athletes from the lake to the finish.

Community Around Longemer
Bruno Mallick says, “I love the atmosphere of XTERRA France and I think that this comes largely from the race volunteers, the organization and the site are top.”
For younger athletes, 2026 XTERRA European Junior Champion Julian Anguera says, “At my club, everyone talks about it with a big smile.” He adds that “XTERRA is unique thanks to its incredible energy and all the excitement surrounding cross-triathlon.”
Ninon Fournier adds, “The event is unique thanks to the magnificent landscapes and the atmosphere that reigns here.”
