The event site is 30 miles southwest of Portland off Oregon 47. Go west on Highway 8 (Tualatin Valley Highway) through Hillsboro until you see the Forest Grove junction with Highway 47. Go left (south) on Highway 47 to Hagg Lake/Scoggins Valley Park signs (5.9 miles). Turn right at the signs and drive straight to the Park entrance (3.7 miles).
Parking
Our race is at Bobcat Cove, but our parking is at Boat Ramp C. As you enter Hagg Lake, follow signs to Boat Ramp C. We must all park in the grass parking lot at Boat Ramp C, do not park in any of the paved parking areas. It is an easy walk from the parking area to our race venue. DO NOT PARK AT BOBCAT COVE or drive in that area to drop items off.
We are offering camping at Hagg Lake the night before the XTERRA Portland event - Arrival Friday, July 31st and departure Saturday, August 1st. For all camping registration, make sure you purchase a vehicle/tent space and add the amount of additional, non-driver individuals camping in your space. All vehicles will be required to obtain their own parking passes from the Hagg Lake kiosks prior to arrival. If you are camping, you will need two day passes, one for Friday and one for Saturday. When you arrive at Hagg Lake on July 31st, pick up your camping pass from XTERRA athlete registration during packet pickup hours, and check in all individual campers. All individuals camping will be required to sign the XTERRA Global waiver, so please make sure all guests have stopped by athlete registration even if they are camping and not racing. Camping is not permitted outside this XTERRA Portland event, and prior registration is required. If you have additional questions, email [email protected].
Registration is available through the XTERRA Portland registration flow on Active. If you have already registered for the event and need to add on camping at a later time, please visit My Active Events.
All campers must sign the XTERRA Global waiver. Please visit XTERRA athlete registration during packet pickup hours to fill out the waiver even if you are only camping.
Vehicle/tent camping space must be reserved and attended by an individual that is 18+.
Additional information will be sent closer to the event for all who have signed up to camp overnight.

XTERRA Portland is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. Please view the link below to review all rules and regulations.

All races will fall under the USA Triathlon Rules for Multisport Competition which can be found here: https://www.usatriathlon.org/multisport/rules
General Rules
Do Not Litter the Course: XTERRA prides itself on leaving the trails better than we found them. Do your part and “leave no trace.” Take your trash with you or leave it at an aid station. Penalties may be enforced for athletes found in violation.
Cutting the Course: Short-cutting and/or cutting trail switchbacks on course is not permitted and may result in disqualification. All athletes are required to stay on the designated trail that is marked as the race course. It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the designated race course. Lack of tape or barriers on the course will not constitute an excuse for cutting the course.
Protests of any nature must be submitted in accordance with the USA Triathlon Multisport Competition Rules.
No headphones of any kind are permitted while competing.
Swim
Listen for race announcements on race morning for updated wetsuit ruling. Athletes must wear swim caps provided at body marking. If you decide not to continue during or after the swim you MUST IMMEDIATELY REPORT to the transition manager that you did not finish.
There will be a separate, non-competitive wave for any athletes who wish to wear non-allowed equipment (snorkel, wetsuit if outside of temperature range, deployed buoy, etc.). You must talk to the race director at the Athlete Briefing in order to have equipment approved and be assigned to this wave.
Transition
You may not mount your bicycle before the exit of the transition area and you must dismount your bike before entering into transition. Riding your bicycle in transition will result in a time penalty.
ATHLETES OR REPRESENTATIVE MUST RETURN TIMING CHIP AND SHOW RACE NUMBER AT TRANSITION TO PICK UP BIKES AND GEAR AFTER RACE.
Bike
The only permitted bicycles are mountain bikes. Cyclo-cross bikes and bicycles with drop handlebars are prohibited.
Run
Competitors must display their run number on the FRONT of their body.
XTERRA Portland will be held rain or shine and will only be postponed in extreme circumstances. If weather conditions may potentially cause any amendments to the format and distance of the event or the postponement or cancellation of the event, race organizers will communicate in the days prior to the event via email, and on the website to race participants. If a decision is to be made on the day of the event, announcements will be made at the Race Village. Please note the event will be staged unless extreme weather conditions occur on the day of or leading up to the event. i.e. not just a bit of rain.
To ensure the safest event for the participants and all involved, we reserve the right to cancel, delay, or modify the format of the event at anytime. We will be following the guidance of USAT rules when making decisions.
Timing will be provided by e8 Timing. Find more about their timing at https://www.e8timing.com/.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport created the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP), a collection of proactive prevention and training policies for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement to help create a safer and healthier environment in which minor athletes can thrive.
The MAAPP applies to the XTERRA Portland event being held on August 1, 2026. As a member of USA Triathlon (USAT) and participant at this USAT sanctioned event, you are required to follow these policies. A link to USA Triathlon’s MAAPP is below.
Required Prevention Policies
The MAAPP focuses on in-program contact between an Adult Event Participant and a minor athlete and covers the following Required Prevention Policies: Meetings, Individual training sessions, Therapeutic and Recovery Modalities and Manual Therapy, Locker Rooms and changing areas, Electronic communications, Transportation.
All Required Prevention Policies apply at all facilities or locations that are partially or fully under the jurisdiction of USAT which include any sanctioned event by USA Triathlon, or any facility that the USAT owns, leases, or rents for practice, training, or competition.
All Required Prevention Policies must be followed by Adult Event Participants who have regular contact and/or authority over minor athletes.
Mandatory Reporting
As a reminder, all Adult Event Participants – including those with one-day memberships – are Mandatory Reporters. If you see or hear a report of any form of abuse, whether it is sexual, emotional or physical misconduct or violations of the MAAPP, you are required to report that abuse within a 24-hour period. You can file a report to the U.S. Center for SafeSport through its online reporting form or by calling the U.S. Center for SafeSport at 833-587-7233 or USA Triathlon at [email protected].
